Jeffrey Viel in for Bruins, Hampus Lindholm remains out
""It's not about (Khusnutdinov)," coach Marco Sturm told reporters at T-Mobile Arena after the morning skate. "I think he played great. He did his job. We just want to have a little heavier lineup today against a heavier team and Viel did an outstanding job in preseason.""
""The nice thing about him is he's been around for a bit and he knows," said Sturm. "I was talking with him throughout the whole process, but I was not really worried about him because his attitude was excellent, his work ethic was excellent. He knew one of these days he'd get a crack at it and I think he will be ready tonight.""
""some energy, some physicality. Just keep my game simple and help the team as much as I can, get pucks deep in the O-zone and go from there.""
Jeffrey Viel, 28, will make his season debut for the Boston Bruins on the fourth line with Sean Kuraly and Mark Kastelic, replacing Marat Khusnutdinov. Viel has 54 NHL games and five AHL seasons with 100-plus PIM, and he impressed in preseason, including a game-winning goal in Philadelphia. Coach Marco Sturm chose a heavier lineup for tonight's matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights and praised Viel's attitude and work ethic. Sturm remains cautious with Hampus Lindholm, who is sidelined by a hamstring issue. Jeremy Swayman will start in net versus Akira Schmid.
