James Hagens notches first points with Providence Bruins
"Hagens showcased his skating ability en route to that helper on Merkulov's goal, weaving through the neutral zone and gaining a clean entry over the blue line before hitting Merkulov on the tape for the tally."
"I don't think anybody was particularly great today, but I really liked 12's [Hagens] second and third period. He was excellent, starting to feel it a little bit."
James Hagens, a 19-year-old forward, scored his first professional goal and added an assist in two AHL games with the Providence Bruins. He scored during a 6-4 victory over the Bridgeport Islanders and assisted on a goal in a 4-2 loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds. Hagens demonstrated impressive skating and playmaking abilities, which impressed head coach Ryan Mougenel. Hagens has been moved to a skilled second line, where his performance is expected to continue improving as he adjusts to the AHL level.
