Hagens, Bruins prospects shine in Boston College's Beanpot victory
"The Boston Bruins are on a break as NHL players prepare to compete for the gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. But the college hockey season is ongoing, and some of the Bruins' top prospects shined bright for Boston College during its Beanpot triumph. The Eagles won the Beanpot for the first time since 2016 after defeating rival Boston University 6-2 at TD Garden on Monday night."
"The Bruins' top prospect and 2025 No. 7 overall draft pick James Hagens tallied five points in the tournament, including a pair of assists Monday. He was named MVP of the tournament. Dean Letourneau, who the B's selected at No. 24 overall in the 2024 draft, scored in the third period Monday. Andre Gasseau, who was a seventh-round pick of the Bruins in 2021, had four points in the tournament and scored two power-play goals in the title game."
"One of those goals got the Eagles on the board in the first period. Hagens leads BC with 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 24 games. Letourneau is second with 28 points in 26 games. He did not score a single goal in 36 games last year but already has 16 this season. Letourneau's improvement has been one of the most encouraging developments for the entire Bruins organization in the 2025-26 campaign."
NHL players are on break for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, while the college hockey season continues and Boston College captured the Beanpot title with a 6-2 win over Boston University. James Hagens led the way with five tournament points, two assists in the final, and was named tournament MVP. Dean Letourneau scored in the third period and has improved from zero goals last season to 16 this year. Andre Gasseau contributed four tournament points and two power-play goals in the final. Hagens and Letourneau are Hobey Baker nominees. The Bruins' prospect pool has significantly strengthened, supporting long-term competitiveness.
