David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy close to return to Bruins' lineup
"When he got hurt, he weighed about 215 pounds and he dropped below 200 with his restrictions. But he said on Monday that he's about halfway back to his original weight. "Getting it back one day at a time, but every day I'm feeling better so I'll just keep doing that," said McAvoy. "We're getting (the strength) back. We're getting the chances now to do more skating, skate longer, work out on the ice. We're making strides and healing on the fly.""
"Both Charlie McAvoy, out since November 15 with a broken jaw, and David Pastrnak, out since November 26 with an unspecified injury, both practiced with the team on Monday and are traveling with the team for its three-game road trip starting in St. Louis on Tuesday and then moving on to Winnipeg on Thursday before closing it out in Minnesota on Sunday."
Charlie McAvoy has been out since November 15 with a broken jaw and began practicing with the team on Monday, wearing a regular full-participation jersey. David Pastrnak has been out since November 26 with an unspecified injury and practiced in a red non-contact jersey; both are traveling for a three-game road trip to St. Louis, Winnipeg and Minnesota. McAvoy underwent surgery, was supposed to be on a soft-food restriction and lost weight, dropping below 200 pounds from about 215; he reports being about halfway back to his original weight and regaining strength through increased skating and on-ice workouts. McAvoy still requires medical clearance. Pastrnak expected a shorter absence and did not anticipate being sidelined as long.
