The Bruins made a large set of roster cuts before the final preseason game, sending Georgii Merkulov and Fabian Lysell back to Providence. Merkulov, Providence's leading scorer the past three seasons, must pass through waivers; Lysell remains waiver exempt. Patrick Brown, Michael Callahan, Victor Soderstrom and Riley Tufte were placed on waivers for assignment. Waiver-exempt players reassigned to Providence include Frederic Brunet, Riley Duran and Brett Harrison. Lysell struggled late in camp with turnovers and a costly penalty. Coaching staff and GM emphasized that strong play in the minors can lead to a recall, and players were urged to remain ready.
