Bruins snap six-game losing streak with 6-2 win in Edmonton
"The bleeding had to stop at some point for the Bruins, so why not do it with their best road win of the season? That's exactly what the B' got on New Year's Eve in Edmonton. They broke out of their scoring slump, getting a terrific performance from Jeremy Swayman and a timely star turn by David Pastrnak (2-1-3) to snap their six-game losing streak with a 6-2 win over the Oilers."
"Swayman (34 saves) was excellent when he had to be, stopping multiple breakaways, including a couple by the sublime Connor McDavid. But unlike in their previous meeting in Boston a couple weeks ago, a 3-1 Edmonton win, the B's were not afraid to establish a presence in the offensive zone when they had the opportunity. The B's were able to take a 2-0 lead in the first period but the Oilers sliced it in half before the first intermission."
The Bruins ended a six-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory in Edmonton, powered by Jeremy Swayman's 34 saves and David Pastrnak's 2-1-3 night. The win leaves the team 21-18-2 at the season midpoint and 1-1-1 on a five-game road trip. Boston capitalized on a special-teams sequence that produced a 5-on-3 opportunity and opened the scoring when Pastrnak banked home a deflected Charlie McAvoy shot. Casey Mittelstadt added a goal off a Hampus Lindholm to Viktor Arvidsson rush setup. Swayman stopped multiple high-danger chances, including breakaways by Connor McDavid.
