Bruins snap six-game losing streak, beat Avs, 3-2
"Sometimes, there is no explaining the game of hockey. The Colorado Avalanche, one of the best teams in the NHL, dominated the struggling Bruins through the first 14 minutes of Saturday's matinee at the Garden. But just when you thought you could chalk up the seventh straight loss for the B's, they somehow turned it around and handed the Avs their first regulation loss of the season, 3-2."
"The Avs appeared to be on the verge of of blowing out the Bruins in the first period. Not only did they take the early lead at 4:26 on an Artturi Lehkonen goal off a lightning quick Nathan MacKinnon pass, they dominated the B's territorially, at a Harlem Globetrotters-versus-Washington Generals level. When the Avs weren't forcing mistakes, the B's were making unforced ones. At one point, the Avs were outshooting the B's 10-1."
The Boston Bruins overcame an early Colorado Avalanche onslaught to win 3-2, ending Colorado's streak of regulation victories. Colorado dominated the opening 14 minutes, taking a 1-0 lead at 4:26 on an Artturi Lehkonen goal off a Nathan MacKinnon pass and outshooting Boston heavily. Boston scored two goals in 39 seconds—Viktor Arvidsson's first goal as a Bruin and Mike Eyssimont's tally—and held a 3-1 lead through most of the third. Artturi Lehknon cut the deficit to 3-2 with a 6-on-5 tip with 18.2 seconds left, but Jeremy Swayman made 30 saves to preserve the win.
