Bruins reach contract agreements with three of their own players ahead of NHL free agency
Briefly

The Boston Bruins have reinforced their roster by agreeing to new contracts for unrestricted free agent defenseman Henri Jokiharju, restricted free agent forward Johnny Beecher, and Group 6 free agent goalie Michael DiPietro. Following the six-year deal for Morgan Geekie, these signings are pivotal as Jokiharju brings experience after being acquired from Buffalo, Beecher seeks improvement after a challenging season, and DiPietro shows promise following an outstanding performance in the AHL with a strong save record and All-Star honors.
Less than 24 hours after locking up restricted free agent Morgan Geekie with a six-year contract extension worth $5.5 million annually, the Bruins reached agreements with three more in-house free agents.
Jokiharju came to Boston from Buffalo on trade deadline day when the Bruins shipped a 2026 fourth-round draft pick to the Sabres. He immediately jumped into the Boston lineup and fit in nicely, often paired with Nikita Zadorov.
Beecher struggled as fourth-line center in 2024-25, registering just 3 goals and 11 points in 78 games.
DiPietro is coming off a stellar season in Providence, where he went 26-8-7 with a 2.05 goals against average, and a .927 save percentage, and an AHL All-Star selection.
