Bruins prospect among 7 Boston players named to Olympic rosters
"Six players on the Bruins' NHL roster will represent their respective countries during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina next month. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy and goaltender Jeremy Swayman will play for Team USA, while forwards David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha will skate for Czechia. Center Elias Lindholm made Sweden's roster, while defenseman Henrik Jokiharju will represent Finland."
"Drafted by Boston in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Locmelis has emerged as a potential NHLer amid his brief stint in the pro ranks. After spending two seasons at UMass, the Latvian-born forward thrived in his first taste of action in the AHL last spring, recording 12 points (three goals, nine assists) over just six games with the Providence Bruins. The two-way forward carried that strong play over to the World Championships with Latvia in May, scoring four goals and six points over seven games."
Dans Locmelis, 21, earned a place on Latvia's roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics after strong performances in the AHL and at the World Championships. He scored 12 goals and nine assists in 30 games for the Providence Bruins this season and recorded 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in six AHL games last spring. Locmelis produced four goals and six points in seven games for Latvia at the World Championships and received praise for his international play.
