"Lindholm's IR designation is retroactive to October 9, so he can be activated at any point. That's not to say his absence from the lineup with his lower body injury is not concerning. He left the lineup in the second game of the season, returned for one game in Colorado on October 18 and has not been in the lineup since, despite practicing with the team."
"Whether Aspirot was called up as insurance or they expect to be missing one of their regulars in Ottawa remains to be seen. A couple of B's D-men left games in last week. Nikita Zadorov left Thursday's game when he crashed into the boards feet-first late in the second period, but he returned for the third period and played in Saturday's win over Colorado. Charlie McAvoy also went to the room very briefly on Saturday, though it's not clear if that was health related."
The Bruins opened a roster spot by placing Hampus Lindholm on injured reserve and called up left-shot defenseman Jonathan Aspirot. Lindholm's IR designation is retroactive to October 9, allowing activation at any time, but his lower-body injury has limited his availability after leaving the lineup early in the season and briefly returning on October 18 despite practicing with the team. The injury is reportedly unrelated to his surgically repaired knee. The recall of Aspirot may be insurance amid recent in-game exits by Nikita Zadorov and Charlie McAvoy. Aspirot, 26 and undrafted, could make his NHL debut and has one goal and two assists in five Providence games.
