Bruins notebook: Pavel Zacha, Marat Khusnutdinov notch first hat tricks
"But often lost in his versatility is the fact that the 28-year-old Zacha was drafted sixth overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2015 and he's got a lot of skill, too. That came to the forefront in Saturday's 10-2 drubbing of the Rangers when Zacha was one of two players to notch their first hat trick. It's not surprising that it was the first one for the 23-year-old Khusnutdinov, who is just finding himself in his NHL career."
"His second one on a 5-on-3 at the end of a first period was a bit unconventional. His shot from the side of the net appeared to have been stopped on the goal line but, after the horn sounded to the end the period and most of the Rangers headed for the dressing room and fans to the beer stand, a review showed that it did indeed cross the line."
Pavel Zacha provides versatile, multi-role contributions for the Boston Bruins, able to play center or wing and participate on power play and penalty kill units. Zacha, drafted sixth overall by New Jersey in 2015, displayed his offensive skill with his first NHL hat trick during a 10-2 victory over the Rangers. The goals included an ankle-breaking move past Will Borgen, a reviewed 5-on-3 goal that was initially thought stopped on the line, and a long-distance snipe that ended Jonathan Quick's afternoon. Fans eventually showered the ice with hats after the third goal in Zacha's 672nd NHL game. Khusnutdinov also recorded his first hat trick in the same game.
