"Me and Joe, we started pretty much the same time ... he had an amazing career. I just tried to do what I was feeling was the right thing to do in Boston, it worked out and I'm very proud of that," Chara said. "Now looking back, players like that you really appreciate that you had those chances to go against them and compare yourself against the best."
"It felt very special. To be honest, I got some shakes...seeing all these legends...now seeing my face, my name on it...I really have hard time to describe what it's like."
Zdeno Chara received his Hockey Hall of Fame ring and plaque Saturday in Toronto as weekend induction festivities began, with the formal ceremony scheduled for Monday. The longtime Boston Bruins captain and 2011 Stanley Cup champion spent the day reminiscing and reconnecting with former teammates. Joe Thornton, also selected to the 2025 Hall of Fame class, joined Chara during the celebrations and shared moments reflecting on their careers despite joining the Bruins in different seasons. Chara's career includes seven All-Star selections and the 2008-09 Norris Trophy among other accolades.
