Bruins' Jordan Harris looking to make hockey more accessible, inclusive in Mass.
"I think it's important for kids to see players that maybe look like them or have similar backgrounds."
"It's different being on this side of it. When I was young, I was around professional hockey players, and it was the coolest thing ever for me,"
"However I can help the kids whether they're inspired, whether they even remember a day like this. Just to see the smiles on their faces and working on stuff out there."
Jordan Harris runs Harris' Huskies clinics in partnership with SCORE Boston to increase hockey access for children who otherwise lack opportunities. Harris draws on personal experience of early-morning practices, hand-me-down gear, and parental sacrifices to shape outreach and mentorship. The program provides on-ice skill development, memorable experiences, and direct interaction with a professional player to inspire youth. SCORE Boston, a Dorchester nonprofit in its 30th year, supplies equipment, transportation, rink time, and clinics to support participation. Harris emphasizes representation and hopes kids see players who look like them or share similar backgrounds.
