Charlie McAvoy took a slap shot to the jaw at Bell Centre that knocked out several teeth and caused a linear fracture with displacement. He underwent surgery to repair the shattered jaw and has been sidelined since Nov. 15, missing nine games with no set return date. McAvoy has returned to practice in a red non-contact sweater, is adjusting to skating with a full cage, and is managing pain from the injury. He has been limited to a liquid-only diet for six weeks, lost significant weight, and is working back to game readiness.
