WBZ employees offered buyouts, prominent reporters leave
Briefly

Longtime WBZ-TV reporters Mallika Marshall and Beth Germano are departing the station. Dr. Mallika Marshall, an Emmy-winning health reporter and practicing physician, was laid off after over 20 years at WBZ. She expressed pride in providing health advice throughout her career. Beth Germano plans to retire in August after joining the station in 1996, indicating it's time for a new chapter in her life. WBZ-TV is also offering buyouts to several employees, with a deadline for acceptance set for August 15.
"It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to provide reliable and credible health advice to the residents of the Commonwealth, New England, and all over the world for more than 25 years, especially now when it's needed the most!"
"Life is a series of chapters, and I think it's time for me to start a new chapter."
WBZ is offering buyouts to six photographers and three people in the engineering department. There is an August 15 deadline for workers to accept the buyout.
Beth Germano, who has been with the station since 1996, received a New England Emmy Award for her help with WBZ's coverage of the Sept. 11 attacks.
