These spray decks have opened to deal with the record heat
More than a dozen spray decks in Boston and across Massachusetts opened Monday as temperatures reached record levels. A heat advisory ran from 11 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday while forecasts called for record highs in the low to mid-90s across southern New England. Boston surpassed the previous record high of 90 degrees just before noon Tuesday, with temperatures expected to reach about 94 degrees. The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages 14 active spray decks, with additional sites scheduled to open later in May and June. Most facilities remain open until Sept. 13, with some closing in late August. Ocean and inland beaches open for Memorial Day weekend, and public swimming pools open June 20.
