Shuttle buses were deployed Wednesday morning after smoke was reported between JFK/UMass and North Quincy stations on the Red Line. The MBTA announced shortly before 9 a.m. that buses would replace trains along that segment. Earlier service showed delays of about 15 and 25 minutes before replacement buses were ordered. Personnel are on scene working to resolve the issue. Commuters should expect disrupted service and alternate transportation on that stretch until crews clear the smoke and restore normal train operations.
