"Around 4 p.m., Weymouth police responded to a 911 call for service at the Webb Memorial State Park off River Street, according to a statement from Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey. When police arrived, they encountered an individual, allegedly holding a knife, who appeared to be "in distress," according to Morrissey's office. An officer discharged their weapon and struck the person."
"Police immediately provided medical aid before the individual was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, officials said. In a statement posted on Facebook, the Weymouth Police Department described the situation as a "critical incident" and alerted the public."
