Last summer, the program supported nearly 200 events designed to bring a wide range of communities to the waterfront, including people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, Indigenous communities, multilingual residents, and low-income families."
The annual Shamrock Splash event at Constitution Beach brought hundreds of participants into Boston Harbor's frigid waters to fundraise for the Better Beaches Grant Program. This program distributes small grants to individuals and organizations hosting free public events and activities on Department of Conservation and Recreation beaches from Nahant to Nantasket. Hosted by Save the Harbor/Save the Bay in partnership with JetBlue, the event supports cultural, recreational, and community programming throughout summer. Last year, the program funded nearly 200 events designed to serve diverse populations including communities of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, Indigenous communities, multilingual residents, and low-income families.
