On Tuesday night around 9:30 p.m., a motorist reported multiple disabled vehicles on the westbound Long Island Expressway in Holtsville between exits 61 and 62, caused by metal debris on the roadway. Suffolk police highway patrol officers responded by closing the right lane to ensure safety. Officers assisted affected motorists with tire changes and coordinated tow truck services. State Department of Transportation workers were also contacted and arrived to clear the debris from the roadway. The right lane was successfully reopened at approximately 10:20 p.m.
