"Boston police officers responded to Icon at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a redacted police report shared with Boston.com. They were told by one of Colon's friends that she was inside the club, laying on the floor and not breathing. Police found her inside, unresponsive on the dancefloor and in the " recovery position." A large crowd of nightclub patrons gathered around."
"Police immediately tried to "create a viable work space" in order to help Colon, but the crowd began "encroaching" on the officers and taking video of what was happening, according to the report. Officers requested an EMS as they medically evaluated Colon and tried to keep the crowd at bay. Boston EMS arrived on the scene, as did more officers. But police were still unable to create enough room for the EMTs to have a "viable workspace." Police ordered that Icon be shut down and that all patrons be removed from the building."
A woman identified as Anastaiya Colon collapsed on the dancefloor at Icon nightclub in Boston and was found unresponsive and not breathing. Boston police arrived around 12:30 a.m. after friends reported her condition and discovered a large crowd surrounding her. Officers attempted chest compressions and sought to create a viable workspace, but patrons encroached, filmed, and hindered access. A club cashier with EMT experience assisted until Boston EMS arrived. Police ultimately ordered the club shut and evacuated patrons. Colon was transported to Tufts Medical Center, and relatives have since raised concerns of negligence and incompetence.
