Carle Place ace Tommy Schoch returns from shoulder surgery in time for senior season
"I was going to make a tackle. I hit the other player with my shoulder and I dislocated it, and I tore my labrum. Being able to play baseball really was my first thought. ... it's been everything to me."
"Just a lot of strength training. Getting healthy by the March 9 start date was the thing that kept me motivated through the entire recovery process."
"A lot of them I also played football with, so they were very concerned for me. Mainly the goal is to get another county championship. Maybe even the Long Island champions."
Tommy Schoch, a senior at Carle Place, faced a shoulder injury from football that threatened his baseball season. After undergoing surgery and intensive physical therapy, he was cleared just before the baseball season began. Schoch's determination to return was fueled by his desire to play with his teammates, many of whom he also played football with. His goal for the season is to secure another county championship and potentially become Long Island champions.
