Boston man convicted in 'vicious' attack on homeless woman
"I'm grateful that this defendant has been held accountable for some of the serious charges in this vicious attack, and I wish the victim a full recovery from the physical and psychological trauma she suffered," Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden wrote in a statement."

On Sept. 8, 2024, Anthony Dew invited a 51-year-old homeless woman to his mother's Evelyn Street residence to use drugs, then raped, strangled, and beat her. Dew fled the scene, leaving the woman bloody, undressed, and screaming in the driveway. Police found the victim semi-conscious with blood on her clothing and face; she reported the assault while pointing to an apartment. The victim suffered contusions, bruising, swelling, and required hospital treatment. Hair consistent with the victim was found on the stairs. On Nov. 5, 2024, CODIS linked DNA from the victim's underwear to Dew. Dew received a seven-and-a-half to nine year sentence for assault and battery and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and strangulation. Remaining charges of attempted murder, rape, and assault to murder ended in a mistrial; a status hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21.
