Boston ends snow emergency, parking ban, while schools to be closed Tuesday

"Boston's snow emergency and parking ban will be lifted Monday night while schools in the city will be closed Tuesday, officials announced, as residents continue to dig out from more than a foot and a half of snow. The Boston parking bans will be lifted at 8 p.m Monday, while Boston Public Schools will remain closed an extra day to allow crews to clear snow, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu's office announced Monday evening."

""I'm grateful to all our city teams who have been working around the clock through the storm to ensure the safety of our residents as we saw the largest storm in several years," Wu said in the announcement. Those with vehicles in discounted parking garages must remove their vehicle by 10 p.m. to avoid being charged full price, the mayor's office said."

Boston's snow emergency and parking ban will be lifted Monday at 8 p.m., with discounted garage vehicles required to leave by 10 p.m. to avoid full charges. Boston Public Schools will remain closed Tuesday to allow crews to clear more than a foot and a half of snow. Space savers must be moved by 8 p.m. Wednesday or the Public Works Department will discard them, and space savers are prohibited in the South End and Bay Village. Trash and recycling will run on a Monday holiday schedule with some neighborhoods delayed. Residents are urged to call 911 for homeless or vulnerable people at heightened cold risk.
