Microsoft plans to enhance Word's performance by introducing a Startup Boost feature aimed at reducing load times through preloading when computers boot up. This strategy addresses customer complaints about slow Office load times, which can stem from network issues or inadequate hardware. The company emphasizes that Office's resource demands remain high, requiring significant RAM and disk space. Initially, Startup Boost will only apply to Word, with future expansions uncertain. This feature will enable better resource availability, enhancing user experience with Office applications.
We are introducing a new Startup Boost task from the Microsoft Office installer to optimize performance and load-time of experiences within Office applications. Initially, Startup Boost will be available for Word.
The system can perform this task for an app after a device reboot and periodically as system conditions allow.
