Backstory, a unique bookshop and wine bar in Balham, has been awarded London's best independent bookshop for 2026 at the British Book Awards. Launched by former journalist Tom Rowley in 2023, Backstory serves as a community hub with a diverse selection of books and wines. After three years of being shortlisted, it finally secured the top spot among nine regional winners. The overall winner will be announced in May and will compete for Book Retailer of the Year.
