Modern heroes and a ravaged Earth: reboot of 1950s space comic Dan Dare has liftoff
"I kind of daydreamed what it would be like to have a modern Dan Dare. That resulted in me emailing the Dan Dare Corporation asking if I could pitch a new Dan Dare graphic novel series. They said yes."
"There have been several iterations of Dan Dare since the Eagle ceased publication in 1967, with the character brought back for the launch of the long-running sci-fi weekly 2000AD in 1977."
Colonel Dan Dare, the British space hero, is making a comeback in a graphic novel published by B7 Comics. Originally debuting in the Eagle magazine in 1950, Dan Dare's revival comes at a time of renewed interest in space exploration. Comic writer Alex de Campi and artist Marc Laming have reimagined the character for contemporary audiences. The project was initiated by de Campi after rediscovering old Dan Dare comics, leading to a collaboration with B7 Comics, known for reviving British icons.
