Jennette McCurdy recalls taking a childhood favorite, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More, from the Garden Grove Public Library and remembering the grainy cover and yellowed pages. She spent much of her childhood working in Nickelodeon studios and later wrote the memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died, which sold over four million copies and recounts a painful relationship with an abusive mother. That memoir is being adapted for Apple TV, with McCurdy co-writing and showrunning and Jennifer Aniston cast as her mother. McCurdy's debut novel, Half His Age, follows Waldo, a 17-year-old Alaskan who begins a relationship with her high-school teacher.
