Joseph O'Connor's novel The Ghosts of Rome won the An Post Irish Book of the Year 2025 award. Work has already begun on the third instalment of his trilogy. O'Connor said he has been 'on a high ever since' and compared his excitement to being like a child. He said he was unable to sleep because of happiness and felt 'completely fecking exhausted'. The Dublin novelist remains in good spirits after receiving the overall prize. Readers can expect the trilogy to continue with a third instalment under way.
