Black queer writer Roxane Gay to receive award for outstanding service to literature
"She is also the author of Ayiti, An Untamed State, Difficult Women, and, most recently, Opinions: A Decade of Arguments, Criticism, and Minding Other People's Business. She is the editor of Roxane Gay Books, an imprint of Grove Atlantic dedicated to publishing works by Black writers and writers of colors, queer writers, writers with disabilities, writers from varied economic backgrounds, and those who live at the intersections of multiple marginalized identities. Since 2024, Roxane Gay Books has published three novels, with four titles forthcoming."

Roxane Gay will receive the 2025 Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community. Gay has published novels and nonfiction, including the essay collection Bad Feminist, the memoir Hunger, Ayiti, An Untamed State, Difficult Women, and Opinions: A Decade of Arguments, Criticism, and Minding Other People's Business. Gay edits Roxane Gay Books at Grove Atlantic, which publishes Black writers, writers of color, queer writers, disabled writers, and writers from varied economic backgrounds. Gay mentors Grove Atlantic's editorial fellowship, publishes the Audacity newsletter and the Rumpus magazine (owned with her wife Debbie Millman), and served as the 2022–2025 Gloria Steinem Endowed Chair at Rutgers University.
