"Dunk's story so far in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has mostly been a comedy. We've watched this big ol' lovable idiot-a pure, mountainous soul (played by Peter Claffey) who is too good for the terribly violent world of Westeros-fumble around as he attempts to make a name for himself. Hell, his newly knighted name is Ser Duncan the Tall, and I'm still calling him Dunk. Even worse? His best friend in the whole world just lied to him."
"When Duncan enters the tournament, he'll no longer compete to raise the value of his name. He's battling for his life in an ancient trial by combat. Called the "Trial of Seven," the rules are simple: Form a team of seven knights and fight to the death. So, Dunk must assemble a squad of men who believe in him enough to die for it."
Dunk is a newly knighted, well-meaning but clumsy hedge knight struggling to make a name for himself. He discovers his squire Egg is actually Targaryen royalty and feels betrayed. Dunk is jailed after assaulting Prince Aerion for terrorizing a puppeteer he loves. The tournament he enters becomes a Trial of Seven, an ancient fight-to-the-death team combat where survival is the prize. Dunk must recruit seven knights willing to die for him, relying on his decency to inspire loyalty. Ser Steffon Fossoway volunteers and promises protection as Dunk arrives at the battlefield with an underprepared band.
