"I love romance books,"
"It's pretty much the only thing I read."
"A lot of my experience with the book community is online,"
"But there's nothing like coming to an event and talking to someone."
A Novel Affair Bookshop, the Bay Area's first romance-only bookstore in downtown Los Altos, held a Valentine's Day fair that drew romance readers, vendors, local authors, and themed merchandise. Attendees browsed special-edition books, book-themed candles, bookmarks and stickers while socializing with friends. Groups wore coordinated outfits and gathered in the romantasy section seeking book club picks. Many attendees described reading as an escape and valued meeting readers in person over online communities. A local florist displayed bouquets at the event. Heart garlands and full bookshelves created a vibrant setting for connection around romance literature.
