"Players work towards these objectives on an ever-expanding board of planets they can visit and begin to occupy. Actions in the game are completed by playing Advisor Cards (their starting deck) and Specialist Cards (more powerful cards that are acquired through other means throughout the game). These cards' abilities range from gaining more Emissaries (effectively control markers), moving Emissaries, building Institutes (which allow players to have more cards in their hand), scoring the Objective Cards, and more."
"A unique twist found in Galactic Renaissance's deckbuilding mechanic is that players place played cards at the bottom of their deck, instead of creating and then shuffling a discard pile. This prevents players from repeating the same action over and over again, leading to actions being generally more spread out throughout the course of the game. The other unique wrinkle to the game is that once a player hits 20 Victory Points,"
Galactic Renaissance challenges players to reach 30 Victory Points by completing Objective Cards drawn by The Assembly. Players expand across an evolving board of planets, placing Emissaries to occupy and influence locations. Turn actions derive from Advisor and Specialist cards that grant Emissaries, movement, Institutes for larger hands, and objective scoring. Played cards are placed on the bottom of the deck rather than a discard pile, which spreads actions over time and reduces repetition. After reaching 20 Victory Points, players cannot gain further points unless they score 10 or more in a single turn, encouraging explosive late-game plays.
