Three men aged 44, 45 and 48 were arrested in west and central London under the 2023 National Security Act on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service identified as Russia. Their addresses and another location are being searched, with counterterrorism police leading the investigation. British authorities allege an increasingly bold Russian campaign of espionage, sabotage and cyber-interference against the UK. Counterterrorism commanders say proxies are being recruited by foreign intelligence services and that arrests aim to disrupt such activity. Six men were sentenced for an arson attack linked to the Wagner group; the Kremlin denied accusations.
