Police arrested nine individuals during the dismantling of a pro-Palestinian protest encampment on Swarthmore College's campus. The arrests included two students and seven activists affiliated with various organizations. The college's administration, prompted by FBI warnings, argued that the protest posed risks to community safety, leading to law enforcement intervention. The protestors, many masked and unidentifiable, were given a short ultimatum to vacate before police enforcement escalated. The incident escalated into confrontation, highlighting tensions surrounding campus protests and national security concerns.
The promotion of the protest on social media drew the attention of law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, who urged us to bring the encampment to an end as quickly as possible.
This encampment and the actions you've been involved in put this community at risk. Because we cannot even identify you, we do not know whom amongst you is a student and who's not.
Leave Swarthmore College property - or you will be arrested.
Dozens of cops are seen lining up to handcuff students - at one point four officers pulling and pinning a protestor to the ground.
