After severe storms hit the South over the Memorial Day weekend, over 150,000 Americans remain without power, particularly in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In Texas, approximately 125,000 residents, mainly in Houston, are impacted, while Louisiana and Mississippi face thousands of outages as well. Entergy Louisiana intentionally cut power to prevent a larger blackout, with MISO stating that the action was necessary for grid stability. As restoration efforts continue, many are still waiting for services to resume.
In Texas alone, there are more than 125,000 people without power Tuesday morning, mainly in the Houston area.
The Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) said this was done to prevent a bigger, uncontrolled blackout across the entire grid.
