Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 member, was pulled over in Tennessee driving a vehicle owned by a convicted human smuggler. During a routine traffic stop for speeding, law enforcement discovered he was transporting eight illegal migrants. Although the officer suspected human trafficking, Abrego Garcia was only cited for driving with an expired license and allowed to leave. The vehicle belonged to Jose Ramon Hernandez Reyes, who had prior convictions for smuggling illegal immigrants. This incident highlights ongoing issues related to human trafficking and illegal immigration in the U.S.
At the time, the alleged gangbanger - who was deported by the Trump administration last month - claimed that the packed SUV was owned by "his boss" at his construction job.
The responding officer wrote that he suspected it was "a human trafficking incident" following the stop.
DHS confirmed the validity of the report to The Post on Wednesday.
Hernandez Reyes pleaded guilty to smuggling and was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2020 for smuggling other illegals from Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras.
