For several decades, between 1947 and 1974, Black men were subjected to inhumane experimental research at the Addiction Research Center in Kentucky in a quest to develop mind control drugs. Funded by the CIA as part of the MK Ultra initiative, these studies involved administering dangerous psychedelic doses to vulnerable groups. This dark history came to light recently through efforts led by Dr. Monnica Williams and her colleagues, who highlighted the community's lingering trauma from these unethical practices and the essential need for healing and trust-building in therapy sessions.
