An attack in Boulder, Colorado, has left multiple individuals burned after a man set them on fire during a pro-Israel demonstration. Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn confirmed a suspect is in custody and emphasized the incident's severity, labeling it unacceptable during the peaceful gathering meant to support hostages from the October 7 attacks in Israel. The FBI is investigating the attack as a targeted terror event, with local law enforcement collaborating to provide updates. The timing coincided with the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, further amplifying community sentiments.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated, 'We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already.'
Police Chief Stephen Redfearn described the scene, saying, 'When we arrived, we encountered multiple victims that were injured with injuries consistent with burns and other injuries.'
Redfearn expressed sympathy for victims, stating, 'I ask that you join me in thinking about our victims, the families of those victims, and everyone involved in this tragedy.'
The Anti-Defamation League noted that the gathering was meant to support hostages taken during the October 7 attacks in Israel in 2023.
