"If you currently have this pedal, we ask that you stop riding it immediately, as there is a risk of serious injury."
""We are currently in the process of testing revised axle designs and will follow up with the replacement axle as soon as possible," states the recall notice. "As we continue progress toward resolving this issue, we can't have riders left in limbo while we produce the solution.""
PNW Components issued a voluntary recall of approximately 1,200 Gen 2 Alloy Loam Pedals after four reports of cracked axles that could cause the pedal body to separate from the axle. Riders are asked to stop using the affected pedals immediately due to risk of serious injury. Owners of recalled pedals are being offered a free interim pair of Range Composite Pedals, which have no reported failures, while PNW tests and develops a revised axle system and replacement axles. Reported failures represent about 0.16% of units; PNW is contacting direct customers to organize shipments.
