Transition Bikes' Epic Forest Work Party Will Make You Jealous
"The annual Transition Bikes work trip to some of the wildest terrain in Washington state looked like a wicked fun time, and this video shares all the hootin' and hollerin' that went down in one of the best places on earth to ride a bike. From fireside brews, dark dirt, good grub, and all the camaraderie you'd expect from a bunch of hooligans out in the woods on bikes,"
"Last fall, Transition shut down, and the company loaded up for an adventure in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. With a late September date picked out, everyone felt skeptical that the Cascades wouldn't be blanketed in snow at higher elevations. We rolled into camp on Thursday afternoon as the clouds began to disperse leaving way for the sun. A few days of rain followed by sunshine was shaping up to some unreal conditions for our trip."
Transition Bikes closed operations for a company trip to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in late September. The team anticipated possible high-elevation snow but arrived as clouds dispersed and sun broke through. Several days of rain followed by sun created ideal damp conditions for sandy, decomposed-granite trails. Riders enjoyed fast, traction-rich laps, campfires, cold brews, and communal meals. The Gifford Pinchot region contains snowcapped volcanoes and sandy trail textures that ride best after moisture. The trip emphasized camaraderie and spirited mountain biking, with late-night fires and 'party laps' on perfect dirt conditions.
