This UCI Downhill World Cup Round Was Pure Carnage - Watch It Unfold
"The summer break of the World Cup is over, and racing returned to Haute-Savoie, and the French Alps of Les Gets, and along with all the racers arriving, so did buckets of rain, which resulted in another absurdly wet and wild round of racing. Documented in the expectedly delightful manner that we all have come to expect from the Sleeper Collective, this is some of the most insane race footage that we've seen this season."
"Ever-changing moisture levels upset many of the race favorites, with Jackson Goldstone, the current points leader, fighting hard to make the finals, and Amaury Pierron, the winner at Les Gets last year, being foiled by the treacherous mud and steep bottom sections. Regardless of the terrible track conditions that riders faced, it was certainly a spectacle for those of us who tuned in to watch the live broadcast."
Rain soaked Les Gets produced one of the wettest World Cup Downhill rounds, turning the course into mud and wrecking the track. Racers battled slippery, ever-changing moisture levels, torn lines, and steep bottom sections that upended many favorites. Jackson Goldstone struggled to reach finals while Amaury Pierron was foiled by mud. Slow-motion footage captured widespread carnage as riders fought the clock and terrible weather. Ronan Dunne claimed his second UCI Downhill World Cup win in horrendous conditions. Gracey Hemstreet won the Women's elite race, further cementing her season dominance. French crowds flooded the finish corral in celebration.
