The article discusses the author's experience with the Hutchinson Caracal Allroad tyres, which appear to be a promising alternative to the older Caracal Race tyre. Originally intended to review the Caracal Race, a sudden storm prompted a switch to assess the Allroad variant instead. The all-road tyres are praised for their potential to enhance the riding experience and provide confidence on varied terrains, making them a viable option for both gravel and road biking enthusiasts. The article highlights the evolving landscape of cycling tyres, noting a trend towards wider options.
It's perhaps a perfect illustration of how mad the tyre market is now... but when the Caracal Race came out it was considered too slick to be considered for a lot of riding, but now we have Pirelli churning out 'road' tyres up to 55mm.
These tyres deserved more of an entrance; I've loved them, and think they're a strong contender for the best allroad tyre on the market, up there with the Teravail Ramparts.
