The Avinox Press Team Aims to Justify its Super Powerful New M2S Motor
DJI/Avinox’s first eMTB drive unit, the M1, delivered 850W peak power and up to 105Nm torque, earning praise for low weight, tunability, and controlled power delivery. Its success helped trigger a broader “motor power wars” trend. Specialized’s Levo 4 used 3.1 and 3.1 S-Works motors rated below a 750W peak cap, with torque increased to 101Nm and 111Nm, and later over-the-air updates raised peak power to 810W and 850W. Bosch’s Performance Line CX units also gained power through over-the-air updates, reaching 750W and 100Nm, then later 120Nm torque while keeping 750W peak power. Avinox’s new M2S increases continuous peak power to 1300W, with up to 130Nm torque, and Boost modes up to 1500W and 150Nm, while remaining limited to 20mph in the U.S.
"With 850W of peak power and up to 105Nm of torque, it quickly gained popularity with many consumers equating "most powerful" with "best." But the M1 drive system proved to be more than just powerful. It also received high praise for other elements of its performance, including low weight, tunability, and controlled power delivery."
"These stayed below the 750W peak power cap, but cranked torque up to 101Nm and 111Nm, respectively. A recent over-the-air update has since turned those peak power numbers up to 810W for the standard 3.1 motor and 850W on the S-works version."
"Similarly, Bosch unlocked more power from its popular Performance Line CX drive units with an over-the-air update, cranking its numbers up to 750W and 100Nm of torque. A second Bosch CX over-the-air update has since turned the peak torque up to 120Nm, while keeping peak power at 750W."
"To be clear, the M2S is still limited to 20mph in the U.S., so just because it's more powerful doesnt necessarily mean you can exceed that speed limit or ride it any faster. Now, I've never ridden an Avinox powered bike, but I've spent plenty of time on the Specialized 3.1 and Bosch CX, both of which I find to have significantly more power than I actually use."
