SRAM's 1987 Collection: A Shiny Tribute to the SRAM Legacy
"Built on the dream of being able to shift without removing your hand from the handlebars, SRAM has since built an empire of technology that has fundamentally changed how we ride. Nearly 40 years after the introduction of Grip Shift, the component giant is paying tribute to this history with a limited-edition groupset that honors the past while delivering today's most innovative tech in a bright and shiny new package: the 1987 Collection."
"Borrowing from the architecture of the XX SL cassette, the 1987 cassette shaves off an additional 25 grams while maintaining its 10-52 tooth range. Teeth with an X-Sync profile allow for dialed shifting even under strenuous load. This is the lightest MTB cassette offering in the history of the company, though it does come with the caveat of not being e-bike compatible."
SRAM's 1987 Collection is a limited-edition Eagle Transmission groupset finished in silver and capped at 1,987 pieces worldwide. The collection assembles T-Type Ecosystem components selected to showcase top-tier drivetrain innovation across nearly forty years. The cassette uses XX SL architecture to reduce weight by an additional 25 grams while keeping a 10-52 tooth range and X-Sync tooth profiles for reliable shifting under load; it is the lightest MTB cassette in company history and is not e-bike compatible. The rear derailleur blends XX cage durability with XX SL lightweight body, featuring an aluminum inline cage and Full Mount architecture in a polished silver finish.
