Scare for Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, Cedrine Kerbaol after crash at base of Col de Joux-Plane in Tour de France Femmes finale
Briefly

Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney and Cedrine Kerbaol crashed as they approached the Col de Joux-Plane during stage 9 of the Tour de France Femmes. Both cyclists were able to remount their bikes and resumed their chase 68.4km before the finish. Anna van der Breggen soloed into the ascent, leading the reduced group of contenders. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot maintained a strong lead overall, with Niewiadoma-Phinney in fourth and Kerbaol in fifth. The final stage set the scene for competitive podium placements while Ferrand-Prévot aimed to secure her previous day's dominance.
Both riders remounted their bikes and were forced to chase into the lower slopes of the mid-race hors categorie ascent after the crash happened with 68.4km to go.
Anna van der Breggen reached the ascent first after attacking an earlier breakaway and going solo into the major ascent; 1:51 ahead of the reduced group of GC favourites.
While Ferrand-Prévot had a firm hold on the overall classification after dominating on the Col de la Madeleine during the previous day's stage, there was still all to play for in the podium places and the top 10.
Niewiadoma-Phinney had indicated that while the yellow jersey was out of reach, she would attempt to move into second or third position.
