Review: New Schwalbe Pro One AllRoad Tires Split the Difference Between Road & Gravel
"In fact, it's a bit of a mashup of the old Schwalbe G-One Speed gravel bike tread on a newer Pro One road bike tire casing and with the latest Addix Race rubber. But by combining the gravel and road tech, Schwalbe has managed to create a more versatile tire, perfect for those longer and faster road rides that inevitably end up on slippery cobblestones or back roads that devolve into dirt."
"Schwalbe first introduced a road tire with little dots for tread all the way back in 2015 when they dove into road tubeless. That tire was called the S-One. And designed for racing Paris-Roubaix, Schwalbe only offered it in a 30mm width. At the same time, they launched their gravel tire family with 35mm & 40mm widths of the first G-One, with a similar look but taller dots with little sipes cut across them for better grip."
Schwalbe's Pro One Allroad merges G-One Speed gravel tread with a newer Pro One road casing and Addix Race rubber to produce a faster, more versatile tire suited to mixed surfaces. The tire aims to perform on long road rides that encounter cobblestones or deteriorating backroads. Schwalbe's tubeless road efforts began with the S-One in 2015, a 30mm tire made for Paris-Roubaix, followed by the G-One gravel line in larger widths featuring taller, siped knobs for grip. The Pro One AllRoad updates construction and repositions the tire toward road performance after the heavier, narrower G-One Speed offered a stiffer, less grippy ride without sipes.
