Pete Stetina's record attempt denied at Mt. Washington Hillclimb as Ian Boswell takes win
Briefly

Peter Stetina participated in the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb, seeking to break the longstanding record held by his father. This challenging ascent features steep gradients and a significant elevation gain, making it one of the toughest hillclimbs in the world. Stetina aimed to surpass the current record of 49:24 set in 2020 by Tom Danielson and his father's time of 57:41. Ian Boswell, receiving a late invitation, unexpectedly beat Stetina, finishing with a time of 50:18, while Stetina placed second at 51:38, acknowledging feeling unwell during the race.
"I shot for the stars, and held that pace for 60% of the mountain, but it was clear my body simply said [nope] today. Things weren't clicking early and I was far off my numbers from training."
"I flopped. I probably cared too much, I probably convinced myself this sinus infection wouldn't make a difference either: but missing the mark is my reality and there's no changing that."
