Mads Pedersen won the Danish Time Trial Championships, achieving his first title by a significant 25 seconds. However, during the 41km race in Aalborg, he faced multiple near-collisions due to a police motorcycle that entered a tight chicane too slowly. To avoid a crash, Pedersen had to maneuver his bike up a kerb onto the bike path. Event manager Jens Kasler highlighted that Pedersen's incident was a distinct scenario, stressing it was caused by a technical error from the police motorcyclist, contrasting it with a previous disqualification case involving a bike path.
"You can't compare the two cases. It happens in a bike race, and the alternative is that Mads Pedersen crashes."
"He catches up with a police motorcycle that is supposed to be in front of him. That shouldn't have happened, but it did."
