RPM Raceway in Farmingdale has made headlines by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest indoor go-kart track, measuring an impressive 3,515.7 square feet. Celebrated by NASCAR star Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who took a solo lap, the track features a complex layout with intertwining upper and lower levels. After a multimillion-dollar renovation, the course offers six interchangeable configurations, enhancing the racing experience. The achievement is notable as Guinness official Andy Glass highlighted the uniqueness of the record, reflecting the innovation in go-kart racing.
"I won a lot of races, done a lot of things, but this is a first for me," Stenhouse told The Post. He said he sized up the track split between a labyrinth-like, intertwining upper and lower level on a walkthrough, but quickly realized there were "a lot of corners" to weave in and out of at about 40 miles per hour.
"[The toughest part is] trying to figure out which corner you're in and where you're at, because when I walked it earlier, I thought I was back at the start - and I was not."
Guinness official adjudicator Andy Glass said the record is a new category - with the bare minimum to achieve the award set at 900 meters, or 2952.76 feet. This is definitely something unique that we've not seen before."
